Scott McCloud will be this year’s keynote speaker.
McCloud is the author of Understanding Comics Reinventing Comics, and Making Comics, a brand new release. In recent years, Scott has given visual lectures on Comics and Technology at computer events, corporations, universities, museums, film and music festivals and government organizations. Topics include Comics Storytelling, Online Comics and most recently, Japanese Comics. Visuals include a cascade of fast-changing images (using Powerpoint, but just for pictures and diagrams, rather than the usual sleep-inducing bulleted list) and browser demos from local files. Scott also hooks up his drawing tablet so that he can sketch live on-screen when the presentation calls for it. His past lecture stops include Harvard University, MIT, The Smithsonian, Microsoft, IBM, and Pixar. For more information on Scott McCloud, visit his website at www.scottmccloud.com.
